Who We Are

We are Katie and Niamh Clarke, a mother and daughter team from Kirkby Thore in Cumbria.

I'm Katie, founder and owner of Katie’s K9s.  I started Katie’s K9s in 2023 when I retired from teaching.  I have been involved in dog training for over 30 years. Initially working as an assistant dog trainer at Twyford Dog Training Club in Reading.  After moving to Cumbria, I was a trainer at Eden Valley Dog Training Club and after that Cumbria Clever K9s.

All my dogs have completed the Royal Kennel Club Good Citizen courses to gold standard.  In 2014 I started doing agility and have competed at a number of finals.  Both my dogs are now Grade 7 and we have experience of running in Champ classes.

Additionally, I am an instructor and assessor for the International Dog Parkour Association.  Willow and I have gained our Championship Parkour title.

I enjoy working with handlers and their dogs, helping them become the best team they can.  My training has a strong emphasis on positive reinforcement and ensuring sessions are fun for both the dog and handler, resulting in a confident and content dog.

I'm Niamh, a dog trainer with Katie’s K9s and Personal Trainer.  I’ve competed in agility fot the past 10 years and qualified for Crufts on numerous occasions as a junior where I have gone on the place on multiple occasions including a first in jumping.  I reached Grade 7 with my first dog, and I’m enjoying the challenges of working to get my current dog to the same level. I also have 8 years of experience as a Royal Kennel Club agility judge.

I enjoy working with partnerships to achieve their goals and seeing the enjoyment they get from succeeding. From my own experience I know there is no ‘one size fits all’ with training, and enjoy the challenge that that presents.
